Tallinn Recognises Outstanding Conferences of 2025 and Welcomes New Conference Ambassadors

On 16 February, the City of Tallinn and the Estonian Convention Bureau recognised the most outstanding international conferences held in Tallinn in 2025, as well as newly appointed conference ambassadors, at a ceremonial event at Tallinn Town Hall.

A total of 14 international conferences were acknowledged for their broad range of topics and significant international attendance. In addition, Tallinn’s annual flagship conferences – key events that strengthen the city’s position on the international meetings market – were highlighted.

Business events remain a strategic priority for Tallinn. A business visitor spends on average at least three times more in the destination than a leisure traveller and helps reduce tourism seasonality. Thanks to the dedicated work of conference organisers and ambassadors, Estonia continues to rank as the strongest business events destination in the Baltics.

Kalle Killar, Director of Entrepreneurship for the City of Tallinn, emphasised the wider impact of international conferences:
“Bringing high-level professional and scientific conferences to Tallinn enhances the city’s economic and strategic visibility. These events generate knowledge exchange, new cooperation opportunities and significant revenue. Every major international event hosted here strengthens Estonia’s position on the global map.”

Conference Achievement of the Year 2025

The title Conference Achievement of the Year 2025 was awarded to the European Choral Association “Leading Voices” Symposium, which brought 800 delegates from 38 countries to Tallinn.

The award is presented annually by the members of the Estonian Convention Bureau to a multi-day international conference with at least 100 delegates, of whom a minimum of 50% are international participants. The event must deliver significant value to the organiser, local conference service providers and the wider conference sector in Estonia.

The 2025 winner stood out for its high number of delegates and represented countries, as well as its diverse and extensive programme. The award has now been presented for the 13th time.

Conference Ambassadors – Key to Estonia’s Success

According to Ott Sarapuu, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Convention Bureau, one of Estonia’s key success factors is its network of conference ambassadors – active members of international professional communities who help attract major events to Tallinn.

“More and more professionals are asking: why shouldn’t the leading event in my field take place in Tallinn? We have excellent conditions – from an airport located just minutes from the city centre to a rich cultural scene and world-class restaurants. Our conference ambassadors are enterprising Estonians who proudly promote Tallinn and, in doing so, elevate Estonia internationally,” said Sarapuu.

This year, ten new ambassadors joined Tallinn’s existing network of 123 recognised conference ambassadors.
