FEEL GOOD CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITIES IN TALLINN

One of the main trends in the meetings industry during the past few years has been groups wanting to contribute to projects that have a lasting, positive impact to the destinations where they are gathering. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  programs can help build bonds, strengthen communication skills and boost morale while making a positive difference in the lives of people who need it most.

This concept first starts with choosing a region or community, engaging with the locals and mapping their worries and needs. The team then comes together and lends a helping hand – painting the park benches, cleaning the beachfront, helping elders with daily chores etc. This activity gives a whole new dimension to “conventional” team building events and exercises.

Here are 6 examples of local CSR activities in Tallinn you could organize for your company already today (or use as inspiration to create your own)! These ideas here are provided by HYPE event planning agency, home to one of the largest portfolios of Team Building offerings in Estonia. Their goals and the so-called core values are still clearly in place today – to be an exemplary and ethical promoter of the corporate events field.

Fulfill your childhood dream of working at the zoo

Working at the zoo is a great opportunity to take care of some of your most beloved animals, benefit from the fresh air and bring alive your inner child.  The Tallinn Zoo often needs help with cleaning up and maintaining the habitats of the animals, as well as assistance with various chores around the premises.  Who wouldn’t love to add a few monkeys and elephants to their teambuilding?

Bonus idea: If your company grows attached to a specific animal or already has a beloved mascot, ask the zoo about sponsoring options!

Help out your local food bank

Whether it be volunteering as a package sorter or calling upon everyone at the office to make a donation, the food bank can be a great way to build solidarity at the workplace.  Your group can help in the warehouse, sort and pack food donations or help out at special events. This volunteering experience is suitable for all organizations – large or small and can easily be organized as a regular event.

Off to the forest

Estonia is one of the most forest-rich countries in the world, however, there can never be too many trees.  Why not get every member of your team to plant a tree to offset carbon emissions and make a positive climate contribution!

Fun challenge idea: Plant a tree for every person working at your company or every customer you acquired that year. Then make tree planting an annual activity and try to outgrow the previous year’s planted forests. More challenges, more forests, more fun!

Lend a helping hand around the community

Social Centres tend to be understaffed and underfunded but can always use some extra manpower.  Why not take your team to get their hands a bit dirty by fixing up a local community centre. This could be anything from painting walls to building fences to preparing food. Some ideas could involve youth centres, social centres, or much-much more.

Some furry love at the animal shelter

Not all of us are in a place to be able to adopt love-needing pets, however, everyone can be suited to help out,  as part of the job as a volunteer is working with the animals so they can become used to people and thus be more adoptable.

Being an animal shelter volunteer is good for your emotional, physical, and mental health and is scientifically proven that spending time with animals helps lower your stress levels and blood pressure. It will also keep you active, especially if you prefer to walk dogs. Keep in mind, animals do not react well to large crowds, so this may be an activity better suited for smaller groups.

Freshen up your neighbourhood

Maybe you don’t need to go far for your CSR activity at all! Take a stroll around your office area and see if there are any playgrounds, parks or general greenery that could use a bit of an upgrade. Another way you could make your neighbourhood shine is by picking up trash or offering to rebuild any forgotten infrastructure.

How to organise a CSR-friendly event?

One of the best parts of CSR events is that they can be organized as simply or extravagantly as you prefer – the sky is the limit! That being said, if you are looking to tackle a bigger project selecting the correct conference support or ground handling partner will make your life a lot easier. These ideas here are provided by HYPE event planning agency, home to one of the largest portfolios of Team Building offerings in Estonia. Their goals and the so-called core values are still clearly in place today – to be an exemplary and ethical promoter of the corporate events field, to be in constant development, to be an exemplary taxpayer, to be the best partner and friend of all who believe in us – clients and partners.
