Tallinn University to host the World Communication Association Conference in 2027
Tallinn will welcome an important international event in the field of communication studies in summer 2027, when Tallinn University’s Baltic Film, Media and Arts School, known as BFM, hosts the World Communication Association Conference.
The conference will take place from 10 to 14 June 2027 and will bring communication scholars, researchers and professionals from different countries to Estonia. The five-day event will offer a platform for discussing current developments in communication research and practice, sharing new academic work, and strengthening international cooperation.
For Tallinn University, hosting the conference is an important recognition of BFM’s international profile and the growing visibility of its communication management programme. The event will also create valuable opportunities for Estonian communication and media researchers to take part in international academic exchange, present their work, and build new professional connections.
Preparations for the conference are already underway. In early July 2026, Tallinn University welcomed Professor Stephen Croucher from Clemson University, President of the World Communication Association, and Professor Stephanie Kelly from North Carolina A&T State University, the association’s finance officer. During their visit, they explored the university’s conference facilities and discussed the organisational preparations for the upcoming international event.
According to Professor Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Intercultural Communication at BFM and Head of the Communication Management master’s programme, bringing the conference to Tallinn highlights the school’s increasing international recognition in the field of communication studies and education.
The World Communication Association Conference will add a strong academic event to Tallinn’s international conference calendar for 2027 and further strengthen Estonia’s position as an attractive destination for international meetings and knowledge exchange.
