‘Meet Estonia’ fam trip showcased the meeting potential of Estonia
This year’s ‘Meet Estonia’ fam trip, organised on 10th to 12th of April, gathered professional event planners from 10 countries around Europe, to experience Estonia as a meeting destination. Organised by the Estonian Tourist Board in cooperation with the Estonian Convention Bureau, the annual event offered its 30 guests a glimpse to the historic wonders of Tallinn, a chance to visit nearby nature areas and to participate in networking events, site inspections and meeting with the local suppliers.
The three-day programme kicked off with a theatrical walking tour through the cobblestone streets of Tallinn’s Old Town. After hearing the medieval tales on the tour, the participants got to enjoy a nice welcome dinner at an Old Town restaurant DOM. Over the next couple of days visits were organized to popular event sites such as the Seaplane Harbour and the Tallinn Creative Hub.
In addition to checking out other top conference hotels and attractions – and of course savouring the top-notch local cuisine – the participants were able to try out the diverse range of incentives that Estonia has to offer. For instance, the participants got creative in a crash course in leather crafting at a workshop directed by Stella Soomlais, a famous Estonian designer. While some participants were hearing about the innovative e-solutions in Estonia, some were whisked away by KGB on a Soviet themed adventure.
Some of the participants extended their stay in Estonia with a post tour in beautiful Lahemaa National Park. The add-on programme included a bogshoe walk along the Viru Bog Nature Trail, an overnight stay at the luxurious Vihula Manor, a bicycle tour, a mojito-making workshop as well as hands-on dinner with the main chef of the manor.
A handful of other participants were treated to a post-tour of Tartu, the nation’s unconventional university town. Their tour of the ‘city of good thoughts’ included a walking tour of Tartu, visit to the A Le Coq Beer factory & museum, followed by a beer tasting and an overnight stay at the V Spa and Conference Hotel. The participants also visited AHHAA Science Center and the architecturally claimed Estonian National Museum.
“Meet Estonia” fam trips have been hosted since 2010.
