Spetacular Ice rink opened on the Town Hall Square in Tartu

The City of Tartu has built a nearly 1000-square-metre ice rink in the historic heart of the city,  around The Kissing Students sculpture and fountain on Town Hall Square.  The ice rink is a part of  Tartu Chrismas Village – with its cosy calm traffic area, awaits residents of Tartu and visitors to the city to spend Christmas time in the city centre.

Tartu’s Christmas Village consists of 18 small pavillions, to stop by and  buy some gingerbreads, waffles and hot tea. Kids can enjoy sleigh or pony rides in the city centre during Christmas, and from time to time you can enjoy the performance of a fire dance or a science theatre presentation. The luminance and beauty of Advent will remain for the entire period that the Christmas Village is open on Town Hall Square, from 29 November through 10 January from 9–21.

The ice rink will remain open until the second half of February. Use of the ice rink is free for people, and both large and small skates can be rented from the pavilion in the immediate vicinity of the rink.

The ice rink on Town Hall Square is initially planned for three winters as part of Tartu’s Christmas Village.
