Tallinn to Host 2014 European Sleep Research Society Congress
The Estonian Convention Bureau, working side by side with the Estonian Sleep Research Society, has secured a bid to host the 21st European Sleep Research Society Congress in Tallinn. The event will be held in September 2014.
Using a presentation prepared by the ECB, the president of the Estonian Sleep Society made the case for Tallinn at this year's congress in Lisbon, winning over delegates to beat out Geneva in the final round of voting for the event's next host city.
The four-day congress, which is expected to involve over 1,000 participants, will be held in the Nokia Concert Hall/Solaris Centre, with guests staying in nearby downtown hotels.
The successful bid is a landmark in the two-and-a-half-year history of the ECB, according to its managing director Riine Tiigi, as it is the first time the organisation has attracted an event with more than 1,000 delegates.
“I am extremely proud of our work here,” she said. “With this kind of cooperative effort, and the fact that we now have such a large congress venue available, I don't see any reason we couldn't repeat the success we have had with the ESRSC.”
This release was prepared by the Estonian Convention Bureau, a non-profit organisation established jointly by public and private sector bodies in order to attract international conventions to Estonia. The ECB's 236 members include the cities of Tallinn and Tartu, the national carrier Estonian Air, and a number of DMCs, PCOs and hotels. For further details, contact:
