WFTGA Convention 2011 was held in Tallinn

04.02.2011

The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) conference held at Sokos Hotel Viru on 29.01-04.02 attracted around 165 visitors from all over the world and lasted an entire week. The delegates who attended the conference are the most active and influential representatives of professional guides from around the globe.

In putting together the programme for the conference the organisers sought to provide the participants with the latest information, the best experiences and of course the chance to get to know everything Estonia has to offer as a tourist destination.

The overall theme of the Tallinn conference was ‘Culture as an all-encompassing guide’. The presentations and workshops that were held at the conference focused on cultural phenomena that may distinguish one country and its people from another, but also bring them together. This primarily means enhancing the skill of guides to offer information in the best possible way to be accepted and experienced by clients.

The theme chosen for the conference is, of course, also related to Tallinn’s status as European Capital of Culture in 2011.
