Rotermann Area is located in the very heart of Tallinn between the Old Town and the harbor. This historical industrial district was established in the 19th century by the Rotermann family whose factories produced almost anything from vodka to construction materials. Today the remarkably restored Rotermann Quarter is a significant landmark of award-winning Estonian architecture and urban design, as well as once again a busy trading spot with fashion stores, restaurants and offices. In keeping with the hanseatic traditions, the residents of Rotermann Area include a Dutch cheese shop, arguably the best Asian restaurant in Tallinn as well as a cosy vinotheque specialized in European wines. Local Estonian products are indeed also present, most notably in Tallinn Design House and the chocolate shop Kalev.
Depending on the time frame as well as interests of the group and the group size, the tour may include a wine tasting, chocolate workshop, presentation of Estonian designers, visit to one of the local businesses and/or deeper insight into urban planning and architecture in the form of a specialist tour.
