The cosy town of Põltsamaa has roots that go back to 13th century, but today it’s known by most Estonians as the nation’s ‘wine capital’ thanks to its nearly century-old history as a producer of wine made from fruit and berries. The town is also home to a well-known producer of packaged foods. This tour will give you a close look at Põltsamaa Castle as well as its church, built in a former cannon tower. The tour continues with a visit to the Põltsamaa Rosegarden, which displays almost 1,000 different sorts and spices of roses. You will also visit the Põltsamaa Wine Cellar
and Food Museum, where you’ll learn about local wine production and see some unique food products made for cosmonauts.
