To see the edgier edge of Tallinn´s art scene, as well as some truly charming, wooden-house architecture, there’s no substitute for a trip to Kalamaja. The serene, mainly residential district has long been known for its colourful, old fashioned, working class houses, though nowadays it’s become the destination of choice for the city’s young, creative types, with all the cafés and galleries that they bring. This tour of the area makes a stop at the Estonian Design House, which is home to several designers´studios and design companies as well as the Estonian Association of Designers. It’s a great place to view the best creations by local designers and make some worthy purchases.
