Newest ECB Member Brings Michelin Quality to Conference Catering

The Estonian Convention Bureau gained a new member this September when one of the nation’s top catering companies, Põhjala Catering, joined the fold. The move makes Põhjala the sixth group to link up with ECB since January in what has already proven a record year for membership growth.

Põhjala’s concept centres on scaling up the quality and feel of the elite restaurant world to fit the demands of event catering. The strategy is clearly working – Põhjala was named Estonia’s best wedding caterer in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The company’s head chef, Dmitri Britikovski, brings his experience from France, where he played leading roles in restaurants that carried the coveted 2-star rating from Michelin. His focus is classical French mixed with Nordic cuisine, a style that emphasises fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have another excellent caterer join our group, especially one that has Põhjala’s kind of credentials. With Estonia’s expanded hosting capacity and growing popularity for international meetings in particular, we’re seeing more and more need for these services,” said ECB Managing Director Kadri Karu.

Established in 2007 and with a full-time staff of nearly 50, Põhjala caters to events involving anywhere from 10 to 2,000 guests. The company also has a large stock of party furniture available for rent.
