Buyers in Vienna and Paris were treated to a high-powered introduction to Estonia last week as the ECB, in conjunction with the Estonian Tourist Board, conducted its first ever workshops in those markets.
In Vienna on May 11th, as many as 26 key players in the meetings and incentives industry were given the opportunity to hear what Estonia has to offer as a good-value-for-money destination. The workshop kicked off with a country presentation, followed by a reception and face-to-face meetings with the 13 Estonian suppliers that took part. The programme was repeated the following day in Paris, this time with 47 buyers attending.
“Since these cities are now served by direct flights to Tallinn, it made a lot of sense to reach out to the buyers there, give them a little taste of Estonia and put them in direct contact with our hotels, conference organisers and airline. I’m happy to say that the response was overwhelmingly positive,” said Riine Tiigi, the Estonian Convention Bureau’s Marketing Manager.
Participants in each of the workshops also took part in a prize draw where the lucky winner came away with a luxury weekend trip for two to Tallinn.
In past years, the ECB and the Estonian Tourist Board have teamed up to hold similar events in Brussels and Amsterdam.
The Estonian Convention Bureau is a non-profit organisation established jointly by public and private sector bodies. It was founded in March 2008 in order to attract international conventions to Estonia. The bureau’s 30 members include the cities of Tallinn and Tartu, and a number of DMCs, PCOs and hotels. It is co-financed by the Estonian Tourist Board, Enterprise Estonia.
Estonian Convention Bureau`s international activities introducing Estonia as an attractive tourism destination are supported by The European Regional Development Fund.
